The Essential Packing List for Teaching Abroad

Your start date is fast approaching and the thought of planning what you’ll need for an extended time teaching abroad can be a bit overwhelming.

There’s the professional environment to consider – what shall I wear to work? Are there any materials I need to bring from home to use in the classroom? Plus the day to day items to think about – What clothes should I bring?  And how many? Which home comforts will I not be able to get in my new city? And finally, the exciting matter of all the mini vacations you’ll have across a wide variety of destinations – how on earth do I plan for these before I know where I am going?

One of the most important things to remember is that, with the odd exception, you’ll be able to find most things you need in your city of work. You may sometimes need to think outside the box and try items that would not previously have been your first choice, but that’s all part and parcel of living and working abroad.

With some careful planning you will easily be able to take all of the essential items with you in your luggage.
